Aviara Kingdom
Orhode and thirteen daughters. Lakes harvested from December to April. Oworo on the Orobe. A Bible said to have fallen at Araya. An Ovie presented to the South council in 2021.
Where Aviara sits
Aviara is in Isoko South. Assembly seat: Isoko South II, with Olomoro, Igbide, Enwhe, Umeh–Erowha and Uzere. Uzere names Aviara as a north-west neighbour. The mother town is also called Orhode and Otor-Aviara. Each community keeps its own development committee. The Aviara Clan Federal Union sits over the chiefs.
History
Aviara is counted with the Benin-line clans. A named founder is thinner in the public file than the map of the thirteen daughters.
From Aka, by the Niger
Oral notes say the ancestors left the Benin country and came in by the Niger, looking for farm, water and ground that would hold. One older Isoko summary names Ozue as the man who led a batch to Aviara. A 1975 book — Obuke, A History of Aviara — sits on that shelf. This desk has not lifted a closed founder-date out of it.
The Orobe
Town telling says the settlers were guided to the Orobe River. That water is still the feast water. From Aviara a second generation walked out and planted the villages that now complete the fourteen: Araya, Aberuo, Ewhokpaka, Edherie, Ukpude and the rest. Erowha is sometimes named in the same older mix of Aviara’s making. The page will not force those strands into one year.

Oworo, the lakes, Araya
Oworo
The clan feast. A fishing rite on the Orobe. It opens with Ukpako — elders cleanse the river. Lakes across the kingdom are then harvested, one after another, from December into April. Film of the 2026 feast is already on the public feed. This is Aviara’s Eni: water, work and a calendar.
Araya Bible Site
Araya is the settlement named for the 1914 story of a Bible on the ground, later tied to Cornelius Adam Igbudu and the Anglican Adam Preaching Society. Aviara took Christianity early. The site is the pilgrimage mark. Farm and fish remain the daily work — cassava, yam, palm, kola, rice, groundnut.
Ovie of Aviara — the roll we can print
Aviara takes the title Ovie. Under him sit the Edio Igho; the oldest of those is the Odio-Igho, next in rank. Oletu-Ode, Otota and Osogba-Idudu complete the named desks. No list from the first Ovie has been printed.
Still the name on the January 2026 list. The live stool had already moved. Treat this line as the site’s lag, not as the sitting king.
Presented to the Isoko South Traditional Rulers Council at Oleh after a kingship tussle. The party that day spoke of fourteen clans of Aviara in the entourage. He was still conferring titles from the palace in December 2025. Wikipedia and the town pages use the same style: Imoh I, Ovie of Aviara.
