Olomoro Kingdom
The one Isoko clan scholars tie to Urhobo Olomu. An Odio-Ologbo, not an Ovie. Four men carry the Ivri and it must not fall. Oil sits under the same ground as the feast.
Where Olomoro sits
Olomoro is in Isoko South. Assembly seat: Isoko South II, with Aviara, Igbide, Enwhe, Umeh–Erowha and Uzere. Neighbours on the road include Igbide — the Olomoro–Igbide road is a state job on the books. Shell fields sit in the clan. Farm and palm sit beside them.
History
Most Isoko clans tell a Benin story. Olomoro is the exception Ikime named. Two accounts stay on this page.
From Olomu
Obaro Ikime wrote that Olomoro is the only Isoko clan whose own tradition ties it to Urhoboland: children of the founder of Olomu in today’s Ughelli South. Later summaries put that move about 1750–1800. That is the line scholars keep pointing to when they say Olomoro is not another Benin offshoot.
From Aka
A second, popular telling says the people left Benin in 1393, in the time of Oba Ehengbuda, sat first at Owa-Nta, then Otakpa-Uno, then the present ground. Community pages still print that road. Hubbard-era intelligence reports fed a lot of those Benin dates. This desk will not pretend the two stories have been made into one year.
Four quarters
The Ivri is carried by four representatives from four quarters. That is the number the feast itself states. Polling halls name three of those quarters in the mother town, and a ring of villages beside them.
Town quarters on the register
- Uruabe — Ekrewolowo Hall, Olomoro Primary School.
- Ukoli — Eteso, Eviewho and Enuru halls.
- Egbo — Uruwhoru, Ekretu and Akokotu halls.
Villages on the same ward map
- Ikiagbodo
- Iviri
- Iwride
- Oviri
- Okpe (Olomoro)
The fourth town quarter that completes the Ivri four is not named as cleanly on the INEC list as the first three. Send the palace map — four names, in order — and it will replace this sentence.
Ivri — festival and places
Ivri
The clan feast. Also written ịvri and, in older lists, Ogba-ivri. Four men, one from each quarter, carry the Ivri. It must not touch the ground. Cutlasses are used in a display that the town says leaves no wound. Part of the rite goes into the bush until the undergrowth is danced flat. The month still needs the town.
What a visitor can be shown
- The four quarter halls and the primary school at Uruabe.
- The oil locations — SPDC fields on the clan ground.
- The Olomoro–Igbide road.
There is no Eni or Urie lake on the public file for Olomoro. The draw is the Ivri and the quarters that carry it.
Odio-Ologbo of Olomoro — the roll we can print
Olomoro does not take the title Ovie. The head is the Odio-Ologbo. No list from the first stool has been published. The modern names collide.
Listed as Odio-Ologbo of Olomoro Kingdom. An older community page also used the style Aghaza Akpudi.
The then chairman of Isoko South, Friday Ovoke Warri, wrote that he was withdrawing representation of Isike as Odio-Ologbo, citing misconduct and a crisis around the President-General, Lucky Ewhe Ejoor. That letter is on the public record. It is not a full history of the stool.
Do not let it fall
That is the rule of the Ivri. Four quarters. One stool. Follow @IsokoNationNG.
