Isoko, Delta State — In a decisive move to safeguard the livelihoods of its farmers, the Emevor Community in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State has officially banned cattle grazing within its territory.
This resolution follows the recent destruction of cassava farmlands and other crops by roaming cattle, which had caused significant losses to hardworking farmers in the area.
Constructive Dialogue Yields Agreement
The leadership of Emevor Community, led by Hon. (Chief) Lucky Okeremu, the Community Chairman, held a meeting with the heads of the Arewa Community in Ughelli North LGA. After constructive deliberations, both parties unanimously agreed that cattle shall no longer be allowed to enter Emevor for grazing.
The agreement is aimed at:
- Protecting farmers’ livelihoods
- Preserving peace and harmonious coexistence
- Preventing further destruction of farmlands
- Promoting sustainable agricultural development in the community
In a statement signed by Hon. (Chief) Lucky Okeremu, the community urged all concerned parties to strictly comply with the resolution “in the interest of justice, peace, and sustainable development.”
