The Delta State Government has approved a ₦4 billion empowerment programme to support 15,000 financially disadvantaged residents across its 25 local government areas, bringing an opportunity for eligible residents of Isoko North and Isoko South.
The initiative aims to strengthen small businesses, provide start-up support for aspiring entrepreneurs and ease financial hardship among vulnerable residents.
Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, announced the approval following the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at Government House, Asaba, on Friday, October 23, 2026.
According to reports, each selected beneficiary is expected to receive ₦250,000. Direct grants will total ₦3.75 billion, while the remaining ₦250 million will cover training, administration and other implementation expenses.
The programme will be implemented through the Delta State Social Investment Programme, with priority given to struggling small business owners, people seeking to establish micro-enterprises and vulnerable residents requiring financial assistance. Beneficiary selection will follow defined eligibility criteria, with implementation expected in the coming weeks.
For residents of Isoko North and Isoko South, the statewide coverage means eligible applicants from both LGAs fall within the programme’s geographical scope. However, the announcement does not specify how many beneficiaries will be selected from either LGA.
How to apply: The publicity notice does not provide an application portal, registration deadline or designated registration centres. Interested residents should await official application instructions from the Delta State Government.
