Isoko North Local Government Area (LGA), established in 1991, is situated in the northern region of Delta State, Nigeria. This LGA, with its headquarters in Ozoro, includes communities like Emevor, Oghara-Iyede, Otor-Owhe, Owhelogbo, Oyede, Ellu, Iyede-Ame, Ofagbe, Ozoro, Bethel and Igbuku.
The population is primarily composed of the Isoko ethnic group, who speak the Isoko dialect and practice Christianity. Ozoro, a central town within the LGA, hosts key institutions, including Delta State Polytechnic and the Film and Broadcast Academy.
The economy of Isoko North is driven by agriculture and the presence of natural resources, notably crude oil and natural gas, which are explored by both local and international companies. Key crops grown in the area include yams, cassava, plantains, and oil palm, while fishing and local trade further contribute to the economy. Traditional celebrations, such as the Oyise Owhe festival, showcase the region’s rich culture.
